Functional Management

Functional Management focus is to ensure continued functionality of the individual components, as well as the performance and functionality of technology as a whole within in the production environment.

Functional Management establishes the framework that all "near-line" and "on-line" technologies must conform to. It is responsible for determining the methodology of how technology will be maintained, the standards that the IT group must adhere to and the requirements for adding new technology to the production environment.

Functional Management is also tasked with ensuring compatibility of services among the technologies deployed. Often localized projects can be designed and developed only to discover that the tools or other associated requirements are unsupported or are incompatible with other areas of the technology landscape.
